LEMON QUARTZ GEMSTONE
LEMON QUARTZ GEMSTONE
Lemon quartz derives its name from its lemon-yellow color.
It is a color enhanced quartz made from amethyst, yellow quartz and iron mixed together and heated at extremely high temperatures (through an artificial gamma-ray irradiation process followed by a mild heat treatment.) This heat treatment is what gives lemon quartz its bright yellow color.
The color of the stone comes in a range of saturations – from bright yellow to pale green color; the more saturated the color, the more is its value. A rare chatoyant variety that exhibits asterism is traded as 'star lemon quartz'
Lemon quartz is of silicon dioxide chemical composition. It is translucent with a glass-like luster. It has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale which makes it tough enough to be made into all types of jewelry.
Lemon Quart is known as Oro Verde or Green Gold and or as the Stone of the New World.
Some quartz crystals possess piezoelectric property, which is the ability to generate electric potential when subjected to mechanical stress.
One of the most amazing properties of quartz is the ability of its crystals to vibrate at a precise frequencies. These frequencies are so precise that quartz crystals can be used to make extremely accurate time-keeping instruments and equipment that can transmit radio and television signals with precise and stable frequencies.
Lemon quartz brings clarity of mind, concentration, and inner peace to the wearer. It also reduces anxiety, and helps overcome nicotine cravings.
Lemon quartz is considered a good luck gemstone. It helps to overcome difficulties and any crisis. It can also protect the home or office from the negative effect of electromagnetic rays.
Lemon quartz looks so similar to citrine that it may be sold as a citrine gemstone. However, though lemon quartz and citrine are both lemon-yellow color, citrine has a strong orange, brown or red tint that lemon quartz lacks; lemon quartz usually comes with a greenish tone.
Lemon quartz can be found in large sizes.
Brazil, Canada, Europe, and Africa are the sources for lemon quartz. It is a very affordable gemstone.
