SELENITE

SELENITE is derived from Greek SELENITES LITHOS, "Selene" means MOON and "Lithos" means STONE. In Greek mythology, Selene is the goddess of the moon.

Selenite is a crystal structure variety of the gypsum mineral. Note, all gypsum have a pearly soft touch. They come in various colors such as white, yellow, orange, green, gray, and blue.

This stone is esteemed because it shines like the moon, and the belief that selenites were ruled by the moon and that it waxed and waned like the moon.

Ancient Mesopotamia cultures used selenite in rituals and to ward off evil spirits and was often put outside the room of the sick. Now modern crystal healers use it to create grids for protection and to sanctify a space.

Selenite is therefore known as a protective stone. Not only does it eliminate negative energy, it facilitates angelic energy as well.
