This is a unique organic pendant that reflects the colours of nature at dawn.
This amazing amber pendant is wire wrapped in pure copper wire and polished by hand. It features a multi-coloured gemstone with pure copper wire gracefully woven in a stunning bail. The warm yellow part of the amber is eye-clean with no inclusion. It is transparent. The brown part is translucent to opaque (please refer to the photos).
Amber is an organic gem because it is created from a once living biological organism such as a pine tree. Amber comes from the resin of ancient pine trees. It comes in different types of colours and in this rare case, it is bi-coloured in warm yellow, reddish brown and smoky brown colours.
The yellow colour of amber is due to high concentration of gas bubbles. A lower concentration of gas bubbles result in a brownish-coloured gemstones.
The colour shades of this beautiful piece of amber is reminiscent of dawn when the sun starts to rise and tints of red coloured the dark awakening sky. This gem is thus the representation of sunrise, warmth and earthiness.
According to a Greek myth, when Phaëton son of Helios (the Sun) was killed, his mourning sisters became poplar trees, and their tears became elektron, which is the Latin name for amber.
Amber was loved by the ancient Greeks. It was mentioned in the sacred writings of Homer, in his Odyssey, also in the writings of Socrates and his pupil Aristotle.
