This gorgeous pendant features a round shaped Astrophyllite cabochon wire wrapped using pure copper wire with a top bail.
Astrophyllite being a soft gemstone, having a 3.5 hardness on the Mohs scale, is wrapped in a complex yet elegant style of a triangular copper frame to protect it from knocks and scratches.
Under the light, this beautiful pendant exhibits incredible flashes of golden fiery colours shimmering within the gemstone.
Astrophyllite is derived from the Greek words ASTRON meaning "star" and PHYLLON meaning "leaf" in reference to the crystal habit that astrophyllite occurs.
Astrophyllite is a very rare brown to golden-yellow [rarely greenish] hydrous potassium, sodium, iron, manganese, titanium silicate mineral. It has a greasy, pearly, sub-metallic luster contrasted with a dark matrix background. It is heavy. Because Astrophyllite possesses a perfect cleavage it is cut in its natural state, usually cut into slabs and then polished. In jewellery, it is fashioned into cabochons.
